By HELLEN TEMBO –
THE number of cholera cases has increased by 19 while 41 patients are currently under admission.
Ministry of Health head of communications and external relations Stanslous Ngosa said the cumulative number of cholera cases had, therefore, increased to 263 from the time the disease broke out in Lusaka in October this year.
The cases of cholera have been recorded in Chipata, Kanyama and Matero
townships in Lusaka.
Three deaths have so far been recorded.
Mr Ngosa said the ministry had continued with the provision of chlorine, decontaminating pit latrines, sampling water sources, health promotion and working with stakeholders in improving access to clean and safe drinking water.
He said the public should adhere to hygiene practices in order to prevent further spread of cholera.
