FIVE people of the same family, including a year-old girl, have died in Nakonde after a vehicle they were travelling in plunged into a stream as the driver attempted to cross a flooded bridge.
Muchinga Commissioner of police Chola Katanga said incident said occurred between Wednesday 18:00 hours and Thursday 08:00 at Miwanga stream at Shem village of chief Nawaitwika’s chiefdom.
Mr Katanga said that the five were travelling in an unregistered Toyota Corolla from Nakonde to Chanka.
He identified the deceased as William Sichalwe the driver, Shadreck Sichalwe 20, Martha Nalavwe, 35, the driver’s wife together with their daughters Debora Nachalwe one-year-old and Saviour Simukoko 17 a grade-nine pupil at Chanka Basic School.
