FIRST Lady Esther Lungu says she is shocked by the death of prominent Luanshya farmer John Enwright.
Speaking during a special requim service at Kafakumba farm, Ms Lungu said Rev Enwright’s death has left her devastated as he would be greatly missed for his hard work and love for humanity.
In a tribute read on her behalf by Luanshya Mayor Nathan Chanda, Ms Lungu appealed to his family to make sure that the vision of Rev Enwright was carried on.
Ms Lungu said Rev Enwright was a robust and versatile man, who had a great vision for the people of Luanshya and Zambia in general.
And Mr Chanda said he had learnt about Rev Enwright’s practical vision for empowering the less privileged in society and diversifying the economy through agriculture from his son Nathan.
“Both the local authority and the central government had plans to partner with John Enwright who had successfully implemented multiple farming  initiatives  such as bee keeping and honey production, goat rearing  and fish farming involving the locals,” he said.
Mr Chanda said Rev Enwright was a selfless man who left valuable lessons from the way he lived and served others regardless of one’s status in society.
Rev Enwright’s eldest son, Brian, said one of the greatest lessons learnt from his father was that one must humble themselves in order to serve others and ensure that there was a win-win situation in all initiatiatives if success was to be sustained.
He said his father’s life style was based on what he termed as Seven Principles, which included values such as, non-violence, love based motivation, unity, trusteeship and prayer, among others.
Kafakumba Farm Institute director Robert Kilembo, said Rev Enwright was a selfless and courageous man, whose death was sudden and unexpected.
Rev Kilembo, said the late Reverand had done a lot to transform Kafakumba Training Centre, which was famous for its banana plantation, which empowered many locals.
He pledged to continue using Kafakumba Training Centre to help others in the manner Rev Enwright transformed the lives of many people.
District Commissioner Joel Chibuye pledged Government’s support and appealed to Rev Enwright’s two son to take care of their mother and ensure that the vision of their father was carried on.
The remains of Rev Enwright would be cremated and the burial ceremony expected to be held in April this year.
