PATRIOTIC (PF) Secretary General Davies Mwila has challenged former minister of Foreign Affairs Harry Kalaba to resign as PF Bahati member of Parliament (MP).
Mr Mwila said Mr Kalaba should resign because he had accused the leadership of the Government led by President Edgar Lungu of being corrupt.
He said he had received a petition by the Luapula Province PF executive committee which demanded for Mr Kalaba’s resignation as Bahati MP, and the secretariat agreed with the party in the province.
Speaking at a Press briefing yesterday, Mr Mwila said Mr Kalaba should resign and go for a by-election at which he should test his popularity.
Mr Mwila said it was illogical for Mr Kalaba to continue being a member of a party whose leadership he had accused of being corrupt.
“We can’t allow someone to continue to serve under President Edgar Lungu whom he has accused of being corrupt,” Mr Mwila said.
He said Mr Kalaba should also provide evidence of his corruption allegations against the Government.
And Mr Mwila has written to the PF Central Province executive committee to discipline PF Kabwe MP Tutwa Ngulube for issuing disparaging statements against the PF in the media.
He said it was not the first time Mr Ngulube was going against party rules.
Mr Mwila said Mr Ngulube should be suspended from the party because it was clear he had no interest to co-exist with other party members.
He said this year, the PF would not tolerate Mr Ngulube’s disloyalty to the party.
Meanwhile, PF Central Province chairperson Chanda Mutale said the constituency executive committee in Kabwe Central had recommended the suspension of Mr Ngulube from the party.
