FOREST Rangers coaches Perry Mutapa and his assistant Masautso Tembo are in South Africa at Absa Premier Soccer League (PSL) glamour side Orlando Pirates on a two-week technical training course.
The development comes barely a week after the Forest executive renewed the contract for the two budding coaches which will hold them down at the club until the end of next season.
Club Secretary Nick Mwansa confirmed the development and said the two had gone on an invitation from Pirates and that the training will help them learn and share new trends that are emerging in coaching.
Mutapa is a former Orlando Pirates player.
Mwansa said exchanging coaching skills and new aspects of the game was vital in the current football set up and hoped that the two club coaches would translate the ideas to the players and other team members.
“The invitation is aimed at learning and sharing the developing concepts in football. These are ideas that will support the betterment of coaching. So we hope that our two coaches will utilise the opportunity and learn a lot,” he said.
Mwansa said such an exchange will help the two sides to be abreast in key areas and be rid of deficiencies.
He said the willingness and commitment shown by the two coaches to learn new trends that are emerging in coaching will help the club be successful in future.
He said refresher courses will trigger team improvement especially under such young and ambitious coaches.
Mwansa reaffirmed his executive’s call to see the club finish among the top four teams in the coming season by laying out plans to recruit about six players to replace those that have left the Ndola outfit.
He said as per club policy they were still searching for unspotted talent compared to other clubs who go for already-made players.
Forest, who last season finished 11th in the MTN-FAZ Super Division, has already lost two key players in midfielder Logic Ching’andu and defender Gift Zulu.
Ching’andu joined champions Zesco United on a permanent deal while Zulu is on the books of Zambia’s CAF Confederation Cup envoys Nkana.
