THE Government has handed over one motor vehicle and 93 bicycles to facilitate the disbursement of the Social Cash Transfer by social welfare officers in Kabwe district in Central Province.
Community Development and Social Services Minister Emerine Kabanshi presented the land cruiser and the bicycles to the community welfare assistant committee in Kabwe on Wednesday.
Ms Kabanshi said Government had attached great importance to helping the vulnerable people in communities across the country.
“The New Year special gift being presented to you today is a land cruiser vehicle and 93 bicycles. The vehicle is meant for the district operations whilst the bicycles are meant to enhance service delivery
among the community welfare assistance committee.
“You may wish to note that since the birth of the social cash transfers in 2003, the ministry is determined to fostering mutual support and linkages within the communities,” Ms Kabanshi said.
Ms Kabanshi said that the Government would also take steps to ensure that beneficiaries increased transfer from the 3, 672 that enrolled in 2017 in Kabwe alone.
Kabwe Central Member of Parliament Tutwa Ngulube hailed the government for easing transport challenges to the community workers.
Mr Ngulube said the Patriotic Front (PF) since ascendance to power in 2011 had worked tirelessly to ensure the lives of people were improved.
“This is a good work on the part of government and I am happy. When I talk, some people say that I am opposition but we talk to ensure that things work. So on the Social Cash Transfer, we tick and only remain with other things,” he said.
