SUSPECTED ritual killers in Kalabo District have exhumed and stolen the body of an albino.
Police have so far nabbed one suspect and are hunting for two others.
The suspected ritual murderers are believed to have exhumed the body of an albino which was buried in 2016.
According to investigations, relatives of the deceased noticed on Sunday that the grave of the deceased had been tampered with and reported the matter to the police.
Police instituted investigations and found that the casket together with the body, were missing.
Western Province Police Commissioner Charles Lungu said investigations revealed that the deceased was buried on August 4, 2016.
Mr Lungu said that in an interesting turn of events, a man was arrested on Sunday after he, in the company of two other people, abducted an albino, aged 13, and his 15-year-old friend for suspected ritual purposes.
“On Sunday we impounded a vehicle, namely, a Toyota Spacio, registration number ALX 6413 that was used to abduct the two boys. The two were held hostage for two days at a lodge by the three men,” Mr Lungu said.
He said that following their abduction, two boys were then bundled in the boot of the vehicle to be taken to an unknown destination to be killed.
After driving for some time, the three men parked the vehicle and the boys managed to open the boot and ran for their lives.
Mr Lungu said police launched investigations and managed to apprehend one man, but the main suspect believed to be the mastermind, Kasweka Kabinda, was still on the run.
He said that investigations so far tied the events of the stolen albino to that of the failed abduction of the two boys.
