By EDINA PHIRI –
THE Lusaka City Council (LCC) has warned vendors against trading from graveyards as the premises are undesignated trading areas and perpetrators will be prosecuted.
LCC acting public relations manager George Sichimba said vendors selling in undesignated areas will be prosecuted according to Statutory Instrument (SI) number 10 of 2018.
Mr Sichimba urged mourners to avoid buying foodstuff from the graveyard to avoid littering the premises as this was also an offence.
He said this yesterday when he featured on a Hot Fm radio show dubbed ‘The Breakfast Show’.
Mr Sichimba said those found selling foodstuff faced a fine of K5, 000 and K3,000 for other goods.
He advised traders wanting to trade from such places, in special instances, to apply to the council for the type of business they wished to engage in and that the council would advice accordingly.
Mr Sichimba said the council was working with State police to ensure there was no trading in undesignated places.
