Two Lundazi scouts arrested for shooting minor

TWO Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW) community scouts in Lundazi have been arrested for shooting a female juvenile while pursuing a suspect who escaped from their custody.
Eastern Province deputy police commissioner Sharon Zulu identified the two suspects stationed at Chisato camp as Aaron Zimba aged 37 and Leonard Ng’uni 36.
Ms Zulu said the duo shot dead Lucy Mumba aged 11, with an AK47 rifle and injured the mother identified as Anne Makamo aged 50 while pursuing a suspect who escaped from their custody.
She said the duo was in the company of the neighbourhood watch group members.
“The two village scouts have been arrested for shooting a girl and the mother. The shooting incident happened when the duo was pursuing the suspect who escaped from custody. The girl died and the mother is nursing injuries at Lundazi District Hospital,” she said.
Ms Zulu said the two suspects were in police custody and that the AK47 rifle with 28 rounds of ammunition was recovered.
