FINANCE Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe has said that early and broad consultations are the key in the formulation of the 2019 Budget.
Ms Mwanakatwe said it is the Government’s resolve to begin the 2019 Budget preparation process early so that more stakeholders are given the opportunity to participate.
She said this at the dinner event in Lusaka for the chief executive officers of the banking industry.
“Broad consultations will be the hallmark of the budget preparation process,” Ms Mwanakatwe said.
This is according to a statement issued by the head of public relations at the ministry of Finance Chileshe Kandeta.
Ms Mwanakatwe said in order to ensure that broad consultations with stakeholders were attained, the ministry of Finance would be holding provincial consultative meetings where the general public, private
sector, civil society, and other non-state actors would be invited to make proposals on tax and non-tax policies for consideration in the process of formulating the 2019 Budget.
A public notice would soon be issued to share guidelines on the Medium Term Expenditure Framework and the 2019 National Budget consultative process.
