By DAVID KANDUZA –
PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has instructed Copperbelt Minister Japhen Mwakalombe to institute an investigation into allegations of non-compliance to Government’s directive by Chinese firm Avic International and Ndola’s Kafubu Water and Sewerage Company in awarding 20 per cent of civil works business to local firms.
This was after Patriotic Front (PF) Ndola District Chairperson Stanslous Kazembe raised the issues during a meeting at Lowenthal Theatre Hall in yesterday.
He said the two firms were ignoring the directive by Government to award 20 per cent of their business to local firms.
The President said once public pronouncements were made he expected implementation from Government officials because he had a contract with the people of Zambia to develop the country.
“Tell me why you’re not implementing it. If it is true, you’re provoking me …in short I want a report on why you’re finding it difficult to implement it,” he said.
