ZAMBIAN teams remained on course to qualify for the 2019 Junior and Youth World Cup finals after winning their second matches yesterday at the ongoing Africa Handball Championship hosted at two venues in Lusaka.
The Zambia Under-17 team beat Seychelles 39-9 to top the table on six points while the Under-20 team thrashed Malawi 48-17 to top their group.
Today’s fixtures would see the U-17 play South Africa while the U-20 would be up against Seychelles.
Winners in the under-17 and 20 categories would automatically book a slot at the 2019 World Cup finals slated for Spain and Macedonia respectively.
Handball Association of Zambia (HAZ) president Victor Bwalya Banda dedicated both victories to Zesco Limited, National Olympic Committee (NOC) and other sponsors that came on board to ensure the event was staged.
Banda urged the players to remain focused and fulfil their ambition of qualifying for the World Cup for the first time in the history of the sport in the country.
