City back in action

CITY of Lusaka yesterday played their first game of the season in the 2018 FAZ Division One Zone One League in a 2-0 win against rivals Lusaka Tigers in a a Lusaka derby at Woodlands Stadium.
After losing six points due to boardroom politics that saw the club fail to play their week three and four fixtures against Young Buffaloes and Katete United.
The games were cancelled after the City fielded two teams in the after failing to merge the teams.
The Football Association of Zambia(FAZ) gave City a warning to merge the teams or risk being banned.
Two days ago both warring factions agreed to merge and have appointed George Kapembwa from the Diego Casilli team as head coach.
Kapambwe said in an interview after the game that the win was a morale booster for the team after losing six points.
“We are happy with the win. It’s more of a morale booster after losing six points. We now need to catch up with the rest of the teams,” Kapambwe said.
Despite the win City remain stuck at the bottom of the table with three points while log leaders Riffle men have eight points.
City opened the score line as early as the third minute to unsettle Tigers through James Mulilo.
They doubled the advantage in the 43rd minute through David Phiri to make sure of the result and at least give hope to the supporters
