GOVERNMENT says it is determined to ensure Formula One (F1) is introduced in the country.
Minister of Transport Brian Mushimba said this when he officiated at the 10th Lusaka Motor Show which was held at the Lusaka Show Grounds yesterday.
Mushimba said Government would help the organisers in all the areas to ensure that the sport was brought in the country.
“I know that the sport is expensive but we are going to tailor a plan that will ensure that this comes to fruition. This has been long overdue because we have the capacity and facilities as a country,” he said.
Lusaka Mayor Wilson Kalumba pledged to allocate land to the organisers to ensure that they built an ultra modern facility.
Kalumba said the council was in support of the venture and that land would not be a problem if they were approached.
“As a council we are more than ready to allocate land to the organisers to ensure that this sport was introduced,” he said.
Lusaka Happening chairperson Bobby Singh said the process to introduce F1 was in the pipeline and expressed confidence that they would make it possible.
“We are working towards making this dream a reality. We know it is not easy but we are on top of things,” he said.
