FORMER Times Printpak managing editor Arthur Simuchoba, who has recently died in Lusaka at the age of 65, will be remembered for his writing prowess and uncompromising stance on the importance of freedom of the press which he considered not only as cardinal but indispensable to any functional democracy.
As a result of his beliefs in the role of the fourth estate, as journalism is often referred to, he was unrelenting in ensuring reporters and photographers carried out their duties as their professional ethics demanded and not what the ‘guys in the corridors of power’ demanded.
