THE Government says that it is owed more than K3 billion by Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) in unpaid taxes.
Chief Government spokespersons Dora Siliya said against the K3.01 billion KCM owed the country, the Government owed the mining firm K1.9 billion and K1.4 billion of that amount had already been audited.
Ms Siliya said claims by Vedanta Resources Limited, the purported owners of KCM, that it faced challenges in running KCM because of non-payment of the Value Added Tax (VAT) refund were, therefore, untrue.
