ZICTA deactivates numbers used by mobile money scammers

MORE than 500 mobile phone simcards suspected to have been used by mobile money scammers have been deactivated by the Zambia Information and Communication Technology Authority (ZICTA).
ZICTA manager consumer protection and compliance Edgar Mulauzi said the deactivations were done in the last six months.
Mr Mulauzi said compliance inspection checks done by ZICTA revealed that most of the scam texts were coming from border areas.
Mr Mulauzi said the messages were sent from people who were in possession of pre-registered simcards.
