AN irate husband of Mwense is believed to have beaten his wife to death for drinking too much and is now on the run.
Daniel Kabaso, 36, of Mwense’s Kapakala village in Chief Lubunda’s area, is said to have been infuriated by his wife’s drinking spree despite his repeated warnings.
Police say the incident happened yesterday around 01:00 hours and the body of the woman was found in the sitting room facing down and bleeding from the mouth, with cuts to the head and limbs.
Luapula Province police Commissioner Elias Chushi said in an interview that officers found an ax handle and pieces of wood that they suspect were used in the committing of the alleged crime.
“According to the narration from her family members, the husband was against her drinking habit and had on several occasions warned her to stop,” Mr Chushi said.
