CUTS prods FRA to help stablise mealie-meal prices

THE Consumer Unity Trust Society (CUTS) has appealed to the Government to consider offloading part of the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) maize stocks as a short term measure to help stabilise mealie meal prices.
CUTS centre coordinator Chenai Mukumba said yesterday that supplying millers with the subsidised FRA grain would provide a viable short term solution to the rising mealie meal prices.
“Government should continue with initiatives and ensure that subsidised maize reaches all milling companies, including small millers,” Ms Mukumba said.
