ZESCO has announced a peak of up to 20 hours or more of loadshedding in some areas from the stipulated 15 hours due to reduced power generation at its main power stations.
Zesco public relations manager Hazel Zulu made the announcement yesterday in a statement.
The statement confirmed weeks of complaints from many people that they experienced power black outs for about 20 hours a day while others said they sometimes went for two days without power.
Ms Zulu said power generation at Zesco’s main power stations which were Kariba Dam, Kafue Gorge and Tezhi tezhi hydro power station had significantly reduced with the current deficit sitting at 872 mega watts.
