‘1.2 million children taken off free meals by Coronavirus’

One unintended outcome of the Government’s decision to close schools prematurely to reduce the risk of learners and their teachers contracting the sometimes deadly coronavirus is that over 1.2 million children from vulnerable families have been ‘distanced’ from free meals.
According to SAVE the Children International Zambia, with schools now closed, some 1,250,000 children in over 40 districts no longer have access to the free meals they are entitled to while attending class.
