THE African Union (AU) Bureau of Heads of States leaders have called on creditor countries and multilateral institutions to immediately suspend interest payments for Africa on its external public and private debt.
The request was to enable African countries fiscal space to respond to the COVID-19’s devastating effects on the continent’s economies.
The AU Bureau leaders were from South Africa (Cyril Ramaphosa), Kenya (Uhuru Kenyatta), Democratic Republic of Congo (Felix Tshisekedi), Mali (Ibrahim Keita) and Abdel Egypt (Fattah al Sisi).
