Lungu launches two women-led fish projects in Siavonga

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu yesterday launched two fish-farming projects for two women-led co-operatives in Siavonga which will be producing 50 tonnes of fish to help reduce the annual fish deficit estimated at 87,000 tonnes.
Meanwhile, Mr Lungu has said he will engage the Citizen Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) over the slow pace of aquaculture seed fund disbursement.
The co-operatives, Buyantanshi and Kamimbi, have a total of 34 women as members who would be given six kilogramme of fish, cages and other equipment and after harvesting their fish it would be sold to Yalelo Fisheries.
The project, initiated by Mr Lungu is expected to improve livelihoods and income among the people in the area.
