FORMER Zesco board chairperson Mbita Chitala has stated that as soon his board took over the management of Zesco, it was faced with an impractical contractual obligation of purchasing overpriced power from Maamba Collieries Limited (MCL).
Dr Chitala states in his latest book: ‘Corporate Capture,’ that the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) which Zesco entered into with MCL worked against Zesco, describing the deal as worse than open theft.
