ZAMBEZI Information Technologies (ZIT) has called for building of local capacity in the Information Communication Technology (ICT) in the country.
ZIT proprietor Jacob Sikazwe said building capacity in the youth would help the Zambian ICT sector to move in tandem with the rest of the world.
“There is  need for technological transfer  in the ICT sector from the foreigners so that young  Zambians take over and provide information solutions to develop the country,” Mr  Sikazwe.
He said there was need for more emphasis on the soft part of development than universities and colleges placing more emphasis on hardware part.
Mr Sikazwe said his organisation had engaged 10 Zambian young graduates from colleges and universities on permanent basis.
Mr Sikazwe said making information available would make the country more visible and more attractive to investors.
Mr Sikazwe called for the development of business and information intelligence which would help the country make informed business and investment decisions
Meanwhile, Prognoz Information Technologies Group a Russian giant ICT company has said the country should invest in software data to aid various productive sectors of the economy.
Prognoz vice-president Vladimir Eskin said at forum organized by ZIT in Lusaka on Tuesday that this would help locate what products and investment opportunities were available in different parts of the country just by browsing the internet.
He said Zambia had a lot of potential hence the need to build statics to help the investors get information easily.
