MINISTRY of Health says the operationalisation of the specialised heart hospital in Lusaka has helped in lessening the spending on referrals heart disease abroad since it started functioning seven months ago.
Permanent Secretary for Technical Services Professor Lackson Kasonka revealed when he checked on the recuperation of patients who had been operated on at the hospital by a team of specialists from Japan on Wednesday that those with heart problems used to be flown to other countries like India and it used to be exorbitant for both the Government and individuals.
