• EVICTED: Vanessa from Big Brother Mzansi

By SAM PHIRI –

REAL drama has kick-started! Last Sunday during the dramatic live show, Big Brother Mzansi secrets audiences bid farewell to 23-year-old
radio account executive Vanessa.
This came as a result of the viewers’ vote that saw her eliminated from the game on day 21 of the show’s 63 day run on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161).
With her exit, there are now 13 housemates playing for the reality show’s R 1 Million grand prize. Who is destined to grab the life changing amount?
The show kicked off with a sizzling performance from Durban’s Big Nuz, featuring DJ Tira, as they pumped up the sound, performing their hit track Umlilo. The trio were back on stage to wrap the show with Incwadi Yothando featuring Khaya Mthethwa.
Up first were messages from Jenayne, Nku and Paris who departed the show last Sunday when the Chamber closed and Iris was voted by fans to enter the Main House.
Interviewed quad-biking in Soweto after their departure from the reality show, all three were upbeat about their experience on BIG
BROTHER MZANSI SECRETS and were looking forward to new challenges ahead.
After series host Lungile Radu wished the former Chambermates well, he turned his attention to one of the main topics of the past week, the unmistakable tension between Iris and Lexi which came to a head when Biggie himself intervened by asking the Housemates to facilitate a better relationship between the feuding twosome.
Then it was time to take a closer look at the ongoing romance between Kat and Jase, which saw the touchy feely couple demonstrating their
affection for each other over the past week. But with weeks to go and the game very much on, it’s going to be interesting to see if they can
indeed keep their relationship intact.
Meanwhile, after the guys’ failed Biggie’s secret task and were unable to match seven secrets to the seven female Housemates, they found themselves up for automatic nomination next week.
However, for all Housemates, there’s a chance to win individual immunity and whoever does will be out of Jase’s firing line. As the
Head of House he will have to make a ‘save and replace’ choice but the two winners of this week’s immunity will be safe from selection for nomination!
Following the ‘secrets matching challenge’, Biggie had another game up his sleeve, and he revealed the intriguing Statue Task.
This is how it works. Housemates have to literally freeze whenever Big Brother signals them to do so. Biggie will then send distractions
into the house to see if the Housemates are strong enough not to react.
The stakes are high, because should a Housemate react to the distraction they might be automatically nominated the following week.
They will not be eligible to compete in the Head of House task or the individual immunity challenge in the Arena. The Statue Task will happen randomly once a week, for the rest of the season and starts during the week ahead.
But the big news of the night was always going to be the announcement of who would be leaving Big Brother Mzansi Secrets and Lungile got the
ball rolling when he asked this week’s Head of House Mzamo to stand up and reveal his ‘save and replace’ choice to the rest of the Housemates.
Mzamo advised the gathered Housemates that he had saved Thando and put MK up in her place. This must have been surprising news to Vanessa –
whom Mzamo has a bond with – and who he almost saved earlier in the week, before he changed his mind and chose Thando instead.
Vanessa didn’t have long to think about Mzamo’s decision because just
minutes later, having received the verified results from the auditing firm of Sizwe Ntsaluba Gobodo, Lungile announced that she had received
the fewest viewer votes and was evicted! After a tearful exit from the House, she arrived on stage.
Before watching the highlights of her stay in the house, the always vocal Vanessa, dressed in slinky sliver, chatted openly with Lungile about how she feels Mzamo is playing the game and how she felt that Sol was pushing her buttons.
She was also positive about Lexi who she sees as free, while revealing that she felt compelled to give Jase advice about his romance because she thinks Kat may be playing him.
Vanessa’s eviction has come after a week of highlights in Biggie’s house.
First gorgeous and lively celebrity Dineo Ranaka surprised the Housemates when she slept over in the House on Saturday evening to celebrate Iris’ 22nd birthday.
She injected some well needed sunlight into the House with her fresh personality and infectious laugh, then
beautiful actress, Boity Thulo thrilled the shocked model with a quick visit and a delicious looking two tiered cake!
BIG BROTHER MZANSI SECRETS is live 24/7 to DStv channels 197 and 198 though ALL live Sunday shows are exclusively on Mzansi Magic. Also on
Mzansi Magic – Monday nomination shows (21:30).
