Japan optimistic of Zambia’s IMF bailout

JAPAN has expressed optimism that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will soon grant Zambia a US$1.4billion financial bailout.
Japanese Ambassador to Zambia Ryuta Mizuuchi said his country had worked hard with the United States, United Kingdom and France to push all creditor countries to provide assurances on Zambia’s bid for an IMF bailout.
Speaking at the high-level policy dialogue meeting between Zambia and Japan in Lusaka yesterday, MR Mizuuchi said once the IMF granted the Extended Credit Facility, it would open new horizons for Zambia in promoting investment.
