THE Patriotic Front (PF) in Southern Province is appalled by Catholic Priest-cum-politician Frank Bwalya’s continued outbursts against President Sata and the Government.

Contributing to the ongoing debate on Fr Bwalya’s remarks, PF Southern Province political secretary Brian Hapunda said it was unfortunate and shameful that the former Zesco Board chairperson was talking ill of the party he supported.

“As Southern Province political secretary and as the PF in Southern Province, we are very much disappointed with the unbecoming behaviour and continued attacks by Fr Bwalya on our party and Republican President,” Mr Hapunda said.

“This man of God and man of the collar has taken pleasure in maliciously attacking Mr Michael Chilufya Sata and the PF Government and for your own information, Fr Bwalya should be reminded that he is attacking the man and the party that made him Zesco Board chairperson.”

Mr Hapunda said instead of Fr Bwalya launching sporadic attacks against President Sata and the Government, the best he could have done was to be thankful for being appointed Zesco Board chairperson out of the millions of Zambians.

“And this is the man who after being made Board chairperson tried to arm-twist the President to say that he must be made or rather be nominated as member of Parliament (MP) and subsequently be made minister,” Mr Hapunda said.

“When that did not come forth, we saw sour grapes from Fr Bwalya and a week later or so he tendered in his resignation as Board chairman of Zesco and formed his own political party out of bitterness.”

He reminded the clergyman that millions of people genuinely campaigned for the PF but had not come forward to make any demands to President Sata or his Government.

Mr Hapunda urged Fr Bwalya to come into politics with decency, clean hands and without any  hidden agenda as politics of peddling malicious attacks and hatred had no place in the 21st century and thus could not be entertained.
