in MBALA  –
Member of Parliament (MP) Mwalimu Simfukwe has sued his wife Gladys for divorce.
Mr Simfukwe has charged that their marriage had broken down irretrievably and as such the only way out was a divorce.
He said in his petition for divorce filed in the Lusaka High Court principal registry that he and Gladys had lived apart for a continuous period of more than two years.
Mr Simfukwe, a business executive and Parliamentarian for Mbala resides temporarily at his father’s  farm number 424 in Chongwe, while his wife works as an administrator for Self Help Africa International.
The couple has five children, two of whom were born of the marriage.
Mr Simfukwe and his wife were lawfully married on May 27, 2002 at the Civic Centre at Lusaka.
The couple last cohabited in January 2012 at farm number 7070, Lusaka West where the wife still resides.
Mr Simfukwe said there had been no agreement made between the parties for the support of the children but he was proposing that both parties have access to them once the divorce was granted as well as property settlement.
He said since their almost 12-year marriage had broken irretrievably, it was his prayer that the marriage be dissolved.
