JIHAI Agricultural Company is in the process of setting up an agro-technological park within the Lusaka East Multi-facility Economic Zone (LE-MFEZ).
The park will be used for demonstration of agricultural techniques to be applied in their future farming operations within Zambia and the region.
Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) acting director-general Glyne Michelo said  Jihai is one of the first companies to set up operations at the MFEZ, which will be  engaged in the production and processing mushrooms.

The firm hails from Jilin Province of China and is currently employing more than 100 Zambian workers who are already skilled in mushroom production and processing.
Mr Michelo urged potential investors to emulate Jihai in advancing both skills and technology transfer, while creating employment for Zambians.
He said the country has a lot of potential for agriculture, capable of accommodating different types of crops.
Jihai Agricultural is currently producing and processing more than 10 tonnes of mushrooms per week which the company is supplying to the local and regional market.
He said due to demand,  the company plans to double production this year which will also increase job opportunities.
The developers of the LE-MFEZ has invested more than US$15 million in setting up the infrastructure that is available to local and foreign potential investors.
Government through ZDA has provided incentives for investors who invest not less than $500,000 in the MFEZs or Industrial Parks across the country.
