NKANA coach Masautso Mwale has declared his side ready ahead of Saturday’s clash against Club Athletique Bizertin in the first leg of the 2014 CAF Confederation Cup knockout round.
And Bizertin arrived in the country yesterday with coach Nabil Kouki targeting a win over the Zambian champions, who have gone five matches without scoring or a victory.
Mwale said in an interview yesterday that Nkana were set to beat Bizertin as the team was beefed up by the return of seven players from injury and sickness among them skipper Sydney Kalume and defender Christopher Munthali.
He said Nkana were prepared to face the Tunisians and that morale in camp was high with the players looking forward for the march with the target of killing off the tie in the first leg.
“The response in the team has been good and the players are fully prepared to face Bizertin. We need to utilise home advantage and the boys are focused at getting a positive result.
I have watched some videos on how they (Bizertin) played their previous game and I think we have learnt something that should help us to beat them,” he said.
Meanwhile, speaking in an interview at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA), Kouki said he had little knowledge about Nkana and singled out striker Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba as the main threat.
Kouki said his team target was to get a positive result away from home to go into the return leg comfortable.
“I have watched Nkana’s past matches and I think their striker, who wears number 9, will be the danger man. But we are here to win but it will be a tough match,” he said before his delegation connected to Ndola later in the evening for Kitwe.
The second leg of this encounter will be played next week in Tunisia and the winner of will progress to the group stage
