ZALCO to offload 50,000 pots on local market

ZALCO Limited, one of the largest manufacturing companies in Zambia is  to offload about 50,000 assorted brands of pots throughout Zambia every month.
Head of sales and marketing William Creans said the market for Zambian pots was now growing and the company planned to distribute between 40,000 and 50,000 assorted brands of pots on to the market every month to penetrate the rural communities.
Mr Creans said the company had identified a market in the rural communities and would intensify its distribution of affordable and quality products to all parts of Zambia.
“The market for pots is growing and the numbers have been increasing. Our target this year is to penetrate the rural areas because there is a market and we will be offloading our products to this segment,” Mr Creans said.
He said the company had the capacity to produce up to 7,500 pots per day and that, the aim would be to increase its presence in most parts of Zambia.
“We are in Southern, Eastern, Copperbelt, Northern and Lusaka provinces and we will move into western province soon,” Mr Creans said.
He said the company planned to explore regional markets such as Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Malawi.
“We are positioning ourselves through the rural approach to penetrate into the DRC and Malawi and our focus remains penetrating the rural areas of Zambia. We will be distributing all range of our brand of pots, cables and solar batteries,” he said.
Mr Creans said ZALCO had introduced new products on the market namely, Yolimba poto, Afripot and electrical cables in the range of 10mm and 16mm respectively.
He said to make the products affordable, the company was offering a uniform price for all its products.
Mr Creans, however, urged its agency to trade fairly and not to misuse the trade discounts offered by the company by over pricing or under pricing the products.
