By JAMES KUNDA-
FOREIGN Affairs Deputy Minister Gabriel Namulambe has invited Turkish tourism entrepreneurs to partner with Zambians in the hospitality industry and organise tour packages that will woo more tourists into the country.
Mr Namulambe said  the scope for investment in the  Zambian tourism sector was broad and included the need for more hotels, lodges and other amenities that are key in adding value to tourism.
Zambia was endowed with a wide array of tourism attractions and a rich cultural heritage which was a tourism gem.
Mr Namulambe was speaking in Ankara, Turkey yesterday when he officiated at a Special Tourism Gala organised by the Zambian Mission to that country.
The objective of theTourism Gala was to showcase Zambia’s tourism potential and this was done through a tourism video presentation, exhibition of tourism materials and crafts.
More than 150 guests consisting of tour operators, the business community, senior Turkish Government officials, the diplomatic community, and Zambian students, attended this function.
“Zambia’s Foreign Policy is giving prominence to economic diplomacy, with focus on attracting foreign direct investment to create more jobs and uplift the living standards of people,” he said.
Mr Namulambe said the country’s stable political situation and friendly nature of Zambians were special assets that made it an ideal investment and tourism destination.
This is contained in a statement made available by Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Zambia in Ankara, Bwalya Nondo.
Speaking at the same function, Turkey’s Deputy Undersecretary for Bilateral and African Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ali Kemal Aydin, said his country was committed to strengthening relations with Zambia and supporting the country’s development agenda.
Mr Namulambe also paid  courtesy calls on Mr Kemal Aydin and Turkish International Development Cooperation Agency vice president Ali Maskan, with whom he exchanged views on enhancement of development cooperation between Zambia and Turkey.
