SOUTH Africa’s Michael Hollick yesterday shot a sizzling seven-under-par 66 to win the Zamtel/Redpath Pro-Am, sending a clear message about his mission this week at the Mopani Copper Mines 2014 Zambia Open Golf Championship in Kitwe.
Hollick took the top prize yesterday after piping Zambia Open defending champion, Adilson Da Silva by a shot.
Da Silva, a Brazilian, was also two strokes ahead of the South African duo of Dean Burmester and Merrick Bremmer who tied for third on four-under-par 69.
Hollick also went on to win the team event with amateurs Collins Musonda, Craig Day and Ventor Chatugwa on 88 points.
The South African again got the better of a team led by Da Silva after winning the top slot on a count back following a tie.
Da Silva’s team consisted of  Investrust Bank managing director, Friday Ndhlovu, Meanwood General Insurance chairperson, Eddie Samakai and Steve Mwafulilwa.
Zambia’s best score for local professionals was recorded by veteran Mohamed Zulu who carded four-over-par 77, a stroke better than compatriots Dayne Moore and Patrick Mwendapole.
Focus today shifts to the Mopani Zambia Open proper with a field of 134 golfers battling for honours.
