A THIRTY-ONE-YEAR-OLD teacher in Chembe District has been arrested for defiling a Grade nine pupil.
Luapula Province Police chief Malcolm Mulenga said yesterday the named teacher of Chaiwa Primary School in Chembe was arrested on Sunday for allegedly defiling a Grade nine pupil of the same school on Saturday.
The girl is 15 years old.
Mr Mulenga said the defilement allegedly happened on Saturday around 19:00 hours in the house of another teacher.
The pupil and her alleged attacker, both live in the Chaiwa Primary School teachers’ township where the incident occurred.
“The matter was reported to police by the girl’s brother-in-law, who is also a teacher at the same school and is the girl’s guardian.
He reported that his sister-in-law was defiled by his fellow teacher at the school,” Mr Mulenga said.
The suspect was arrested and would appear in court soon for defilement.
