GOVERNMENT has praised the Defence Services Command and Staff College in Lusaka for expanding its training programmes which align it to the growth of the economy and the maintenance of peace and stability in the country.

Defence Minister, Edgar Lungu said the pursuance defence courses were laying a solid foundation for peace and stability, which was an essential pre-requisite for the promotion of the economy.

Mr Lungu said this in a speech read for him by his deputy, Joseph Lungu during the official opening of the 17th command and staff course in Lusaka yesterday.

He said the course aimed at producing high calibre officers who were supposed to assume high levels of command and staff appointments.

The minister said the Government attached great importance to activities and academic performances of students at the college as it was the highest institution for military personnel in the country.
