AIRTEL Zambia has announced that its partnership with the Ministry of
Education to provide free internet to pupils and teachers via the
E-learning mobile bus at the just ended Zambia International Trade
Fair held in Ndola, benefited 600 people.
According to a statement released by the corporate affairs office
yesterday, the mobile bus which housed 16 computers benefitted more than
600 pupils and teachers.
A representative of the Ministry of Education, Gladys Sakala said the
initiative was timely as it helped expose youths to the internet which
they could use to gather information and network among other things.
“I am happy that Airtel Zambia came on board to provide free internet
service for the masses. The response from both pupils and teachers was
overwhelming as we had more than 600 people visit the bus. This shows how
welcome initiatives such as these are,” Mrs Sakala said.
Airtel head of corporate communication and Government relations, Yuyo
Kambikambi said corporate social responsibility was an integral
part of Airtel’s business and the company would continue to raise the
bar in the country.
