Letters to the Editor -LogoONE of the major sources of pumped water in Luanshya is the Makoma Dam.
I recently visited the dam as a concerned resident  and discovered that water levels are not pleasing and come hot season, we may experience erratic water supply from Kafubu Water and Sewerage Company.
However, since last month, China Luanshya Mine has been pumping out water from the defunct 28 Shaft Mine that closed during the bad days of Luanshya after the MMD government privatised ZCCM.
I would like to suggest to management of Kafubu Water and Government to seriously consider diverting the water to Makoma Dam if it is possible to do so, if Mulonga Water and Sewerage Company can do it in Chililabombwe, Kafubu can also do it.

Keep it up African Life

IN June and July 2014, African life Assurance wrongly deducted money from my salary.
Upon making a formal complaint the company swiftly refunded my hard-earned cash within a record five days.
It is for this reason that I would like to seize this rare opportunity to commend management of the company in Lusaka and Ndola for attending to my problem in a mature, swift and professional manner.
I want to urge other service providers to emulate African Life Assurance in order to serve their clients better.

Don’t spoil Golden Jubilee; give us water

THE hope given to the people of Kaloko Extension by Ndola District
Commissioner, Mr Rebby Chanda concerning the cry for water in this
area needs to be appreciated.
Mr Chanda left his busy schedule and
came to listen to the cries of the people.
Indeed this is how a true
civil servant should work unlike many other civil servants who are
after frustrating Government’s efforts to deliver development to the
people.  Besides water, the people of Kaloko Extension have demanded
that this new developed area be called Jacaranda Villa.
Again, the
Ndola DC has scored a first by promising to source about one thousand
Jacaranda trees to be planted in this area.
We hope the local
authority will do the needful and give us a befitting name unlike to
be called after a substandard area.
As for Kafubu Water, please have
a heart and move on site.  Water is life, so we demand that we be
connected to your water network before independence, otherwise you
will spoil our jubilee celebrations.
