POLICE in Lusaka have summoned United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema for questioning in relation to undisclosed offences.
Police deputy spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said in an interview that Mr Hichilema would appear at Woodlands Police Station at 10:30 hours on Monday.
Mr Hamoonga said police had summoned Mr Hichilema to appear yesterday but his lawyers could not avail him to the police.
“We will not disclose reasons why we are summoning him as those are privileges of Mr Hichilema and the police,” Mr Hamoonga said.
By Press time Mr Hichilema’s phone was off but when contacted for comment, UPND Secretary General Winstone Chibwe and deputy spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa said they would give details on the matter later.
