DESPITE dozens of Peter Tosh’s disciples celebrating their legend’s memorial behind bars last year, they are not relenting on this year’s tribute either.
The highly anticipated show is certainly on!
Conscious Sounds the group behind the wheels of this highly entertaining annual reggae event has announced to DStv Entertainment that the venue has, however, shifted from Mount Zion where it has been held for a number of years to Munda Wanga Botanical Gardens.
According to Conscious Sounds general secretary Kennedy Mutale, the shift of venue has nothing to do with the evading of the law enforcers but just that they are ‘going back to the roots.’
“Munda Wanga in Chilanga  was the first place we celebrated Peter Tosh’s Memorial eight years ago and we are happy to announce to the faithful disciples of Peter ‘the Stepping Razor’ that the show is on this year and come in numbers with a donation of K50,00,” he says.
The gates to the show will open to the public at 15:00 hours on September 13 and all tickets will be obtained from the gates of the venue.
Sizzling live music will characterise this day till the following morning as local reggae musicians will create a frenziedly atmosphere with quality local stuff; sweet to the reggae loving ear.
There will be no international artiste this year as the legendary I Jaman and the Kenyatta Hills have been saved for a highly anticipated December concert announced yet again by Conscious Sounds.
Some of the local musicians lined up for this 27th anniversary of the late Peter Tosh include Jaspar Mix,
The Burning Youths, Cactus Agony Mwila, Banthu Boots Mystic Africans, and the Crucial Lions. Others are Zion Gates and Ras Ziggy.
Peter Tosh, OM was a Jamaican reggae musician. Along with Bob Marley and Bunny Wailer he was one of the core members of the band The Wailers.
After that, he established himself as a successful solo artiste and a promoter of Rastafari. He died on September 11, 1987, after being shot.
