MTN Premier Division League promotion side, Nakambala Leopards’ assistant coach, Chris Tembo has been dropped together with five senior players.

Club secretary, Sam Madunga has confirmed that the committee agreed in a meeting not to renew Tembo’s contract following the expiry on December 31, 2013.

Madunga said the club had also offloaded goalkeeper, Jairous Kabanje, defender, Emmanuel Museka, strikers Patson Kaimana, Peter Banda and Joshua Siame.

The club secretary declined to give any reasons for the decision made by the committee, but sources at Nakambala have revealed that head coach, Wilson Mwale had stated that he had difficulties working with Tembo and threatened to resign.

Tembo, popularly known as Gazza, has got the boot for the second time at Leopards having been fired in 2007 when he failed to retain the team in the Premier league after he had guided the club into its maiden appearance in the Premiership in 2006.

Leopards, re-engaged Tembo as a deputy to Mwale in mid 2012, in a desperate move to salvage the ‘sweet boys’ from the sinking wreckage of the relegation ship but to no avail.

And sources at Leopards have revealed that Dick Ngwenya, who ditched Nakambala leopards unceremoniously in 2012, has been linked with a move to bounce back.

The sources say Ngwenya is expected at Leopards soon as thetalks with the coach have reached an advanced stage.
