Letters to the Editor -LogoHAVING watched the Chipolopolo clobber stubborn Sudan 3-1 at Heroes National Stadium in Lusaka on August 31 2014, I am optimistic that come September 6, 2014, the Honor Janza trained boys will shoot, hammer and silence the Mambas of Mozambique.
It was good to see the seriousness in the boys during the not so friendly match against Sudan.
The Zambia National Soccer Team has players capable of demolishing Mozambique this Saturday at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
It is good that FAZ has pegged the price of tickets at K20 for the lowest.

What are electric tokens for?

WHAT is the role of the ERB Board and Zesco management?
Why are they robbing us through electric tokens which finish before you blink?
Was this tariff mechanism correctly arrived at or is it meant to sustain the unjustifiable? It may seem that poverty defeats even the things that benefit from economies of scale.
What is the thinking behind the pricing of electricity when this has plunged the common man into a state of porous pockets? I think this has gone out of hand.

Revise teacher recruitment method

WHILE I appreciate the need for the Ministry of Education, Science, Vocational Training and Early Education to advertise for teacher recruitment, I have certain observations.
The teacher recruitment is based on separation of staff through retirement, resignation, termination, dismissal and deaths among others.
What is puzzling is that, thousands of serving teachers in Government schools have upgraded their qualifications but they are not being upgraded into new salary scales.
I don’t see any logic in such an arrangement by the Ministry of Education because it is better to first sort out serving teachers.
The Zambia Teaching Service Commission (ZTSC) must look into the plight of serving teachers who have acquired diplomas and degrees.

CLM must help Luanshya develop

INSPITE of China Luanshya Mine (CLM) making huge profits, it is sad that the company has lamentably failed to maintain its health centres.
Starting with Luanshya Mine Hospital, the surroundings have been overgrown with shrubs and snakes have taken over.
Inside the hospital, the story is pathetic, it is very rare to find water.
Patients admitted to the facility are treated to bad diet.
Imagine one chicken is shared by several patients.
Some miners spoken to prefer to go to the well stocked Roan General Hospital which Roan MP Chishimba Kambwili renovated.
The clinic at Section 4, looks like an abandoned building.
Surely, how much can CLM spend on fencing off and painting the clinic?
if individuals can paint their houses what of a big mining company like CLM?
Everyday, truckloads of copper leave Luanshya but one wonders why CLM has neglected social infrastructure in Luanshya.
