EIGHTEEN-year-old Brandila Lubuli has been selected to represent Zambia at the Miss Teen Commonwealth in the United Kingdom.
The event which promises to be the highlight of the holiday travel season will run from November 11 to 17, 2014 at Radisson Inn in the UK.
Brandila, who is the reigning Miss Culture 2014, is scouting for finances to enable her travel to the prestigious pageant.
“I am confident that I can make my country proud by winning the prize if I can be assisted in any way to make it to the beauty contest”, says Brandila in an interview.
Brandila, who hails from Eastern province, won the Miss Tourism Eastern province/Miss Culture Ambassador in 2013 and since then she has been active in promoting the welfare of the less privileged in the society.
Jacklyn Nyanywa Liseli, the Chief Executive Officer of I Emerge Talent Agency, tells DStv Entertainment that Brandila is expected to hotly battle it out with models from other Commonwealth countries if  she is to win the crown.
“Brandila is expected to represent Zambia at the Miss Teen Commonwealth in UK this November, unfortunately we have some financial challenges as an Agency … we are therefore  appealing to the corporate world to help us meet her travel expenses. The young lady is a sincere, passionate, self empowered, innovative and creative 18-year-old”, says Nyanywa.
Since winning the Miss Culture Zambia crown, the Evelyn Hone College Lab Technologist student, has played major roles in the Keep Zambia Clean campaign and sensitising the public about diseases such as HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis (TB).
She has also been active in donating food and clothes to various orphanages and health institutions such as Mufulira’s Kamuchanga Hospital and different schools both on the Copperbelt and Lusaka.
A fortnight ago, Brandila was one of the top models drawn from different higher institutions in the country, which showcased their talent at Lusaka Museum to raise money for street kids.
Apart from that, she is  also involved in a clothes drive campaign at Evelyn Hone College ( where she is pursuing her studies), where clothes that are donated by her fellow students are given to orphanages within Lusaka and her home town of Mufulira.
