THE Zambia Institute for Policy Analysis and Research (ZIPAR) and the?Poverty Reduction, Equity and Growth Network (PEGNet) will, starting?from today, host a two-day high-level conference on employment?creation in developing countries.
The conference dubbed, “Employment creation strategies in the?Developing World-How to create sufficient productive and decent?jobs,” will be held at Lusaka’s New Government Complex.
Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda is expected to officially open?the function today, while other highlights include the keynote speech?on:  “Growth, Inequality and Poverty Reduction in Africa,” by World?Bank chief economist for Africa region, Dr Francisco Ferreira,?tomorrow.
ZIPAR executive director Pamela Nakamba-Kabaso said several other?high-profile speakers are lined up to make presentation today and?tomorrow.
Dr Nakamba-Kabaso said the event would provide a platform for?high-level dialogue and exchange of ideas between the development?researchers and policymakers.
“The two conference days will feature parallel sessions based on?invited and contributed papers as well as project presentations.
“In addition, the PEGNet Best Practice Award will be awarded for the?sixth time to best practices in cooperation between researchers and?policymakers,” she said in her invitation letter to the event.
