A TWENTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD woman of Kitwe has been gang-raped by six men after a drinking spree.
The victim of Mindolo Township was on her way home around 22:00 hours on Saturday night when she was confronted by six men who took turns in raping her.
Copperbelt Police Commissioner Joyce Kasosa confirmed the incident in Kitwe yesterday.
Ms Kasosa said the victim was on her way from drinking when she was dragged into an unfinished building by six men where she was gang-raped.
“We have a report where a 22-year- old woman who was on her way from drinking was raped by six people from an unfinished building,” she said.
Ms Kasosa said the victim reported matter to the police and that she could identify her assailants.
She said investigations were underway. No arrests have been made so far.
Meanwhile, police in Mumbwa have arrested a 20-year-old teacher who allegedly defiled his 13-year-old pupil on several occasions.
The pupil, who had earlier run away from home due to the alleged beatings she suffered at the hands of her mother, was defiled at the teacher’s home for one week starting from September 13 this year.
Central Province Police Commissioner Standwell Lungu identified the accused person as Prince Musompo of Lubemba Village in Mumbwa.
Mr Lungu said the girl had earlier confided in the teacher following the alleged beatings from her mother after which he asked her to move into his house.
