MORE than 60 Somalis, who were recently intercepted in a containerised truck in Kapiri Mposhi, have been fined K2,000 each for unlawful entry into Zambia.
The 67 convicts, who filled the court room to capacity while others listened to the verdict from outside, openly wept and almost disrupted court proceedings in other courts when judgment was handed down.
Magistrate Chimuka Mutafela convicted and fined the 67 Somalis to K2,000 each after they pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful presence into the country.
The 67 would remain in jail until the K2,000 is paid.
