KUNDA

By CHARITY MOONGA-
UNIVERSITY of Zambia Mass Communications Head of Department Emmanuel Kunda says the introduction of e-times by Times Printpak Zambia Limited will expand the newspaper’s readership.
The e-times is the full electronic version of the Times of Zambia and the Sunday Times newspapers and can be accessed online.
The online publications are different from the current website content, which is in summary form, but the latest innovation provides readers access to both editorial and advertorial details, in similar
format as the hard copy newspaper sold on the streets.
The e-times, launched last week and the first of its kind in the newspaper industry in Zambia, can be received digitally following subscription by logging on to www.timesepaper.com and has no geographical limitations.
Lieutenant Colonel Kunda said in an interview in Lusaka that it was a good initiative by the Times to introduce e-times to reach as many people as possible.
People in remote areas of Zambia like Serenje and Kaputa would be able to access full copies of the Times of Zambia at little cost.
“Economically it is affordable as it is only going at K2 and it is on mobile and most of the people have mobile phones,” he said.
The other beauty is that the e-times is not summarised so even advertisers will be able to have their adverts seen.
The financial base of the Times of Zambia would improve with this initiative.
