Letters to the Editor -LogoAS we mourn and celebrate the life of the man of action, let us all mourn him with dignity and love for one another.
The death of President Sata has affected all of us, so let no one start bringing in conflicts as we mourn President Sata.
President Sata has left a legacy of hardworking, love, sacrifices and honest amongst many attributes.
Despite losing Presidential elections in 2001, 2006 and 2008, the departed hero did not give up but continued to fight for the betterment of the Country.
I remember waking up very early on 20 September 2011 to travel to Lusaka to go and vote for President Sata.
I arrived in Lusaka at around 05:00 hours in the morning and found a long que of voters.
It was only during President Sata’s reign that I had an opportunity to visit the President’s office and I had a discussion with President Sata.
I will live to remember what you told me sir. You said, ‘in life one needs not to start from top but from bottom till top’
Because of the love for the Country, during his three years as republican President, Mr Sata did a lot and everyone will remember him for the contributions he made to the country’s development.
This is also a challenge to those who have remained in the leadership of PF to continue from where President ended and live up to his disposition of hardworking and care for others.
May we truly honour our departed hero through avoiding any form of confusion and mourn him in peace with full of love. God gave us President Sata and we can only thank you God for the life of President Sata.
My heartfelt condolences goes to the first family and the entire PF family and indeed all Zambians on this great loss.

True patriot gone

A DARK cloud has once again fallen over our land. At exactly 11 minutes past 23 on Tuesday night, we once again lost a sitting President. Our beloved President Michael Chilufya Sata is no more.
The death of President Sata is indeed a tragedy. But what is even more tragic is that his death has come just four days after commemorating our Golden Jubilee, an occasion he could not even manage to grace due to ill health.
It is quite sad that after all the striving and sacrifice he made for this country to finally get to where he was, his health stood in his way.
But even when his health was failing him, President Sata still continued to give his all to a country he so much cherished and loved. That was the mark of his patriotism.
A strong advocate of multiparty democracy, President Sata propagated a great sense of national unity in our immensely diverse country. He believed in the noble principles of equity, justice and cohesion.
His story of humble beginnings should teach us an important lesson: a worthy individual can triumph over the most daunting adversities.
If truly success is measured by influencing ones environment by investment of your personality and selflessness, then President Sata is no doubt a success, the kind of success that deserves praise and emulating.
His legacy shall live on and his name shall be inscribed in the monuments of history for his extraordinary leadership not only in Zambia but Africa as a whole.
Yes, we have lost our beloved leader but the death of President Sata should not make us lose direction or hope as a country. A Zambia without him can only hope to be as good as a Zambia with President Sata in it.
Let the death of President Sata bring our country together as did the death of president Levy Patrick Mwanawasa (MHSRIP) six years ago.
Let us mourn our President in peace and dignity and try to live up to his example, how to fight for our beliefs and lead an exemplary life.
May the soul of our beloved President rest in eternal peace.

Prayer for Sata

MICHAEL Chilufya Sata, Son of the soil, man of forgiveness and reconciliation, a voice for the vulnerable and poor is no more.
You were God’s gift to Zambia. Now you have returned to God your maker and our maker.
Living God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, God the father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we commit the soul of our President Michael Chilufya Sata into thy hands.
President Sata, you have departed from us, but you will live on in our hearts for generations to come.
Let it be forever remembered that you were always a very precious stone to us.
You did more than exist, you lived. You did more than listen, you understood.
Grace was in all your steps, love and laughter in your voice, in every gesture was kindness and humbleness.
You concealed your anger but shared your smiles. You gave so much and yet demanded so little.
Yes, you served and kept the faith. The past is now history, the future a mystery, but we will hold dear our memories of you, your smile, and the sound of your laughter…forever.
Thou art gone to rest, and this shall be our prayer… that when we reach our journey’s end, we will share God’s glory together.
Sleep on, man of a humble heart, and take thy rest, God has called you home. God thought it best.
We remain assured that you are resting peacefully with Jesus in that beautiful home above.

Death why have you?

Death why have you interrupted the moment of happiness –tell us.
Dark cloud why have you hovered over the bright day-spoiling the party.
Suddenly quenching the jubilation of the nation for its Golden Jubilee.
Sadness, why are you the last to laugh.
Look, we sob endlessly.
The cold tragic hand of misery fastens our hearts we cry.
Death why have you taken our president without notice or sign you crush our hearts- devastate our emotions.
From day one you have delighted in taking prey of us- yes.
You have filled your belly and made merry of our fresh but when will you be satisfied?
You have taken priceless and countless lives yet your grudge is still unsettled- your anger and hunger is still as relentless.
Death why have you taken our president?
What on earth, do you wane us to pay?
How surprising you orphan the nation.
Without remorse you send the millions into bereavement.
What song shall we sing?
Since this calamity won’t reverse.
Be strong nation- unite.
This storm like any other life storm will pass- we shall overcome.
One Zambia one nation
And surely God will see us through
