CONSTRUCTION of four primary and secondary schools in Eastern Province has stalled, Ministry of Education resident engineer Raston Miti has said.
Mr Miti said, on a Budget tracking programme on Breeze FM in Chipata on Tuesday, that the schools which included Chikando in Chipata, Chikowa in Petauke, Umi and Kapekesa in Lundazi had all stalled.
Mr Miti said some of the projects had been affected by the lack of funding from the Government.
The other reason was that Government terminated the contract of a company that was working on Chikowa School.
He, however, indicated that the construction projects for Sinda Day, Chasefu, Vubwi and Chiparamba schools were progressing well.
“Most of the projects that have been affected are those being constructed by local contractors, who do not have other means of accessing money when Government delays to pay them,” Mr Miti said.
